The News Education Expo’22 begins


LAHORE: A large number of students and families visited The News Education Expo ’22 on opening day at a local hotel here on Saturday.

The annual Jang Media Group Education Expo is considered one of the biggest educational events in Pakistan. The two-day event brings together dozens of leading institutions, including universities, higher education institutions, education networks, and education and career guidance and counseling firms, providing an excellent opportunity prospective students looking for admissions and scholarship information.

Among others, Saadia Shariff, Chief Marketing Officer Jang Media Group, was present at the opening ceremony. Despite unpredictable weather conditions, the News Education Expo’22 venue was crowded with a large number of prospective students and people from different walks of life.

Speaking to The News, visitors called the exhibition a great opportunity to explore and interact directly with representatives of participating institutions. With absolutely free admission, visitors receive free on-site information about academic programs, fee structure and scholarship opportunities, etc.

This year, The News Education Expo’22 returned to physical mode after a two-year hiatus, as due to Covid-19 restrictions the event was moved online.

“I’m super excited because the exhibition turned out to be a great opportunity to explore and learn about different universities and their academic programs,” commented visitor Iqra.

Another visitor, Junaid, said the exhibition helped him and many other students like him to compare academic programs offered by different institutions and their fee structures, etc. “The best thing is that you can interact directly with university representatives and get answers to questions that usually go unanswered on websites and helplines,” Junaid added.

Likewise, the representatives of the participating institutions praised the Jang Media Group for organizing the event appropriately.

Hafiz Qasim, admissions officer at the Higher University, said the university offers more than 150 programs with scholarships worth millions of rupees. Dr. Salman, Assistant Professor (Civil Engineering) at University of Lahore (UOL), said that UOL is one of the largest universities offering programs in various fields from BS level to Ph.D. duly accredited by different accreditation bodies.

Faizan Basir, consulting director at Falcon Education and Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd, said the organization has been providing career counselling, overseas university admissions, scholarships and comprehensive visa counseling since 1992. He said Falcon Education handles admissions to universities in the UK, Canada, Germany and many other European countries.

Sufian Ahmad, Director of Career Center, Government College University (GCU) Lahore and Mr. Asif Sadiq, Deputy Registrar (Admissions) at GCU Lahore said that established in 1864, GC University is one of the most most prestigious and oldest in the country. They said the university has introduced online admissions to promote the culture of paperless process and added that the last date to apply for bachelor’s degree programs is August 15, 2022. Ms. Rabia, Admissions Officer, Minhaj University, said stated that from associate degree to doctorate, the university offers more than 30 academic programs with a very affordable fee structure. She said the university also offers merit-based scholarships to students.

Beenish Kashif, director of admissions and student affairs at NUR International University (a project of Fatima Memorial Hospital), said the university established in 2015 offers several undergraduate and postgraduate programs in addition to offer merit-based scholarships. She said a range of programs were offered at four different university faculties.

Institute and others. Starting at 10:00 a.m., the exhibition will continue uninterrupted until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (today).
