Emmanuel Christian Church is set to host the first annual Neighbors in Need Day on Saturday, April 9 from noon to 4 p.m.
Event coordinator Pamela Teague said she received a vision from God to organize the event to help those in need. Food, fun and conviviality are the stars of the big day. The church will also distribute free food and clothing.

“God gave me this idea a few years ago and I see the need in the community and the church,” Teague said. “I went to the pastor and asked him if we could do it and he was excited. Where I saw it was a one day thing, my pastor sees it’s even bigger and wants to do it again in the future.
Realtors will be on hand to educate new and existing homeowners on everything from buying a home for the first time to refinancing a mortgage. Even a demonstration of self-defense is on the program.

Teague said it was important to offer various services everywhere to ensure people left with more than just a plate of food.
“We know people are looking for homes and we think people who have never bought a home can get information about that,” Teague said. “I’m excited and ready to see what God is going to do that day.”
