Concert for Ukraine – the best songs from all the artists coming to Birmingham tonight


Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello and Paloma Faith will perform at the Big Ukraine Concert in Birmingham tonight. The two-hour fundraiser at Resorts World Arena Birmingham kicks off tonight from 8pm.

The concert will also be broadcast on ITV between 8 and 10 p.m. And we hope to raise thousands of pounds for the humanitarian appeal in Ukraine.

Anne Marie

Ten-time Brit Award nominee Anne Marie began her career in 2013 with the release of her first solo demo Summer Girl, earning a fan following in Concert For Ukraine star Ed Sheeran. The Essex pop artist broke into the UK Singles Chart after charting on single Rudimental Rumor Mill alongside Will Heard which peaked at number 67.

In 2015, the singer’s debut solo single, Do It Right, entered the charts, reaching number 90 and being certified gold. Clean Bandit featured Anne Marie on their 2016 hit single Rockabye with Jamaican rapper Sean Paul. The song became number one for Christmas 2016 after already topping the charts for six weeks.

Since then Anne Marie has released a string of hit singles including Alarm, Ciao Adios, 2002, Perfect To Me and FRIENDS.

Paloma Faith

Singer, songwriter and actress Paloma Faith first entered the mainstream with the release of her debut single Stone Cold Sober which peaked at number 19 on the charts. Its second single, New York, propelled its predecessor to the position, climbing the charts to number 15.

The London musician hit her first top 10 single in 2012 with the release of Picking Up The Pieces from her second solo album Fall To Grace. In 2014, Faith was featured on Sigala’s single Changing which became her first number one.

Her fourth album, The Architect, debuted at number one on the UK charts with the singles Cry Baby and Make Your Own Kind Of Music. She is also well known for songs such as Just Can’t Rely On You, Picking Up The Pieces and Only Love Can Hurt Like This.

Camila Cabello

Cuban-American singer-songwriter Camila Cabello began her career with the pop group Fifth Harmony, formed by X-Factor. After leaving the band in 2016, Cabello released his first solo single Crying In The Club which charted in the top 40 charts in over 30 countries and was certified platinum in the US, UK, Canada, in Australia and Italy.

She released her first solo album, Camila, in 2018, which included singles such as Never Be The Same, Consequences and Havana, which went to number one in 23 countries and was certified diamond in six countries. Cabello followed that success with the release of the number two hit Senorita featuring Canadian singer-songwriter and former boyfriend Shawn Mendes.

Earlier this year, she released new single Bam Bam alongside fellow Concert For Ukraine artist Ed Sheeran from her upcoming third album Familia.

Nile Rodgers and Chic

Chic, currently called Nile Rodgers and Chic, was formed in 1972 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. The couple earned their first number one single outside of Chic after co-writing the single We Are Family for American vocal group Sister Sledge, which has since been preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as “culturally , historically, or artistically significant.

Chic achieved a seven-week stint in 1978 at number one with Le Freak from the band’s second studio album C’est Chic. The album also included hit singles I Want Your Love, At Last I’m Free and Sometimes You Win. The group disbanded in the early 1980s before reuniting briefly and recording the single Chic Mystique and the 1992 album Chic-ism.

In 1996 Edwards died of pneumonia at the age of 43. Chic continued to tour with new artists. The group has recorded many hit singles over the past 50 years, including Everybody Dance, Good Times, My Forbidden Lover and Dance, Dance, Dance.

Ed Sheeran

Multi-award winner, MBE recipient and Spotify’s most streamed artist of the decade, Ed Sheeran began recording music in 2004 and releasing it himself before gaining notice on YouTube. The West Yorkshire singer-songwriter released his first top 10 single, The A Team, in 2011, which served as the lead single from his debut album + (Plus). The song earned him his first Grammy and Brit Award nominations.

The album also included the top 10 hits Lego House and You Need Me, I Don’t Need You, which peaked at number five and four respectively. Sheeran’s next release, x (Multiply), topped charts around the world and won Album of the Year at the 2015 Brit Awards. The album’s lead single, Sing, became the first Sheeran’s number one single.

Her third album, ÷ (Divide), was the world’s best-selling album of 2017 and included a string of hit singles such as Castle on the Hill, Shape of You, Galway Girl, Perfect and Happier. Sheeran then released two more albums, the fifth and most recent of 2021 = (Equals) topping charts worldwide.

Emeli Sande

Sunderland singer Emeli Sandé rose to prominence in 2009 when she featured on Chipmunk’s track Diamond Rings, which became their first top 10 single. debut single Heaven which debuted at number two on the UK charts.

Sandé has since received two number one singles – the track Read All About It by Professor Green for which she provided vocals, and the collaboration Labyrinth Beneath Your Beautiful. Her debut studio album Our Version of Events spent ten non-consecutive weeks at number one and became the UK’s best-selling album of 2012.

It featured the number one hit Heaven as well as Daddy, My Kind Of Love, Next To Me and Clown.

Gregory Porter

Grammy Award-winning artist Gregory Porter released his debut album, Water, in 2010. His third and fourth albums, Liquid Spirit and Take Me to the Alley, won him Grammy Awards for Best Vocal Album by jazz.

Porter only appeared on the UK music charts once with Disclosure’s single Holding On which he collaborated on. It reached number 46 in the UK Singles Charts and number 13 in the UK iTunes Charts.

He also collaborated with actor and musician Jeff Goldblum on a cover of Ray Evans and Jay Livingston’s single Mona Lisa. Porter is best known for his distinctive vocal style, featured in songs such as The ‘In’ Crowd, Liquid Spirit, Dry Bones and Hey Laura.

Becky Hill

Bewdley singer-songwriter Becky Hill appeared on the first season of The Voice UK and reached the semi-finals as part of Jessie J. Hill’s team became the first contestant in the show to release a number one single which she achieved in 2014 with Gecko (Overdrive) on which she collaborated with Oliver Heldens.

Hill also sang and co-wrote Wilkinson’s Afterglow, which reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart in 2013. To date, she has landed 12 of the UK Top 40 Singles, including Lose Control with Meduza and Goodboys, Wish You Well with Sigala. , and Piece Of Me with MK.

This year, nine years after her debut single with Wilkinson, the duo released Here For You which peaked at number 43. She also released Run, a collaboration with Swedish EDM duo Galantis.

The Kingdom Choir

Formed in 1994 by conductor Karen Gibson, The Kingdom Choir is a London-based gospel choir. The band draws inspiration from Christian traditions and is “a group of like-minded artists who are dedicated to creating a sound that demonstrates the community they share”, according to the band’s website.

The choir made headlines in 2018 when it performed at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The same year, the band released their debut album, Stand By Me, which featured the original single Chases.

In 2019, The Kingdom Choir performed The Star-Spangled Banner as part of the MLB London Series opener of that year. In 2021 they released a new single Together Again with South London musician Jake Isaac.

Manic street preachers

Selling over 10 million records worldwide and headlining Glastonbury, T in the Park and Reading Festival, the Manic Street Preachers played a key role in the Welsh ‘Cool Cymru’ movement of the 1990s. won two UK number one singles – If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next and The Masses Against the Classes.

The Welsh band also have two number one albums – 1998’s release This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours and 2021’s The Vivid Lament. On top of that, they have won 11 NME Awards, eight Q Awards, four BRIT Awards and received Mercury Prize and MTV Europe Music Award nominations.

The band have spent a total of 179 weeks on the UK charts so far, including a top 10 with a cover of Theme From M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless). They are also known for songs such as Motorcycle Emptiness, A Design For Life, La Tristesse Durera and Your Love Alone Is Not Enough.

snow patrol

Northern Irish-Scottish rockers Snow Patrol have had a number one album in the UK and five top 10 singles in the UK. Released in 2016, the band’s third studio album, Eyes Open, spent three weeks at the top of the charts and became one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history.

Eyes Open featured the top 10 singles Chasing Cars and You’re All I Have. The group’s other top 10 singles include Run, Signal Fire and Take Back The City.

During their career, Snow Patrol has been nominated for six Brit Awards and a Grammy. They can also count Ozzy Osbourne, Bono, Michael Stipe and Nikki Sixx among their fans after expressing their admiration for the group.

Tom Odell

Chichester singer-songwriter Tom Odell began his music career in 2012 with the release of his debut EP Songs from Another Love. His debut album Long Way Down, released in 2013, spent a week at number one in the UK with singles Can’t Pretend, Hold Me, Another Love, Grow Old With Me and I Know.

The same year Odell won the Brit’s Critic’s Choice Award and the following year was nominated for Brit’s British Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist. He also won the Ivor Novello award for Composer of the Year in 2014.

Odell’s debut single Another Love reached the UK top 10 and was used by the BBC to advertise its 2013 lineup.
